THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY, THE SCHOOL OF ICON-PAINTING

The seminary existed from 1703 till 1918 and was an important educational institution in Siberia. Now it is the third higher educational establishment in Tobolsk, the most interesting and attractive as everything that is little known about. During the visit to the seminary the students tell you the history of this educational institution, the daily schedule, their occupations during leisure time. Girls also study at this seminary, after graduating from it they become heads of church choir. There is also a school of icon-painting here. For an icon to become miracle-working one must prepare for painting it in a certain way. How it is done, what paints are used for icons, what the rules and methods for painting saints are – all these questions will be answered in the seminary.
