Visitors of the Leningrad region will be offered «event tours»
The Leningrad region will develop this uncommon direction of leisure, as event-related tourism. One of the key places within the framework of this proposal will become the city of Old Ladoga. Specifically, here, on the legends, Russian statehood was conceived. Rock-and-earth fortress was located here in 753. Then in 862, according to «The Tale of Bygone Years», after the death of the representative of local dynasty prince Gostomisl the notable Scandinavian Ryurik with the brothers and the guard was here invited. The fortress repeatedly was reconstructed in the long years of its existence. At present the fortresses of the VIII and IX centuries are preserved, however, the restoration of early fortresses is possible. Within the next few years it is planned to restore completely the north-western facade of fortress. Archeological excavations are conducted on the earthen fortification of the XVII century. After their completion inside of the fortress - the monument of the XVI century - will be recreated buildings of ancient Ladoga of the VIII-X centuries (apartments and guest houses, handicraft workshops etc.).
The territory of old Ladoga is rich in the monuments of history and architecture. And this is not only the fortress itself, but numerous monasteries, the museum of merchant way of life and other museums, and also the legendary grave-barrow of prophetic Oleg. Experts count that the Ladoga fortress could become an area for taking of public events that drawing tourists. In spite of rich history, up to the last years Old Ladoga was not sufficiently «untwisted» tourist direction. Only recently they began to convey the organized groups, Travel.ru. own correspondent reports. But the city can assume more guests - there is a lot to show them. Therefore at the session of regional government it was decided to improve and to develop the tourist infrastructure of the the city. Furthermore, coordination council for tourism with the government of the Lenoblast recommended to other municipal formations the revealing of their tourist potential, organizing of work on conducting of holidays and events. For example, in the Vyborg castle the costume knightly and musical festivals are conducted yearly, drawing many tourists into the city. In the experts’ opinion similar activity can be taken also in other cities and villages of the Leningrad region, also having glorious history. Travel.Ru.
