Under this slogan the summer Olympic Games of 2008 will pass in Chinese capital. Meanwhile tourist authorities of the country uncork surprises for their foreign guests. In particular in order to learn present Peking and to feel the spirit of ancient city tourists will be offered accomodation in traditional hutongs. On the threshold of the Olympiad of 2008 local authorities at first declared merciless war to this «survival of the past» - the entire regions of hutongs were scheduled for demolition, their inhabitants were moved into new many-storeyed houses in the outskirts of the city. But today the officials have changed their mind. In fact the hutongs are giving to Peking a unique originality and drawing many hundred thousand foreign tourists. «During the Olympic games of 2008 foreign travellers will have the possibility to stay in Chinese families, including the accomodation in hutongs», - the executive director of the European department of China Youth Travel Service Chang Zhutsze says. According to him, this part of the major plan of hotel and tourist Peking infrastructure expansion will make it possible to increase the number of hotel accommodation in the city by 30 thousand. Furthermore, about 80 new hotels with 90 thousand total room capacity will actively work in Chinese capital. Actually, the matter is mainly about 4-5 star hotels, whereas basic tourist demand falls at budgetary hotels. So the popularity of the hutong accommodation by all appearances will be very high. On the whole about 150 mlrd dollars were allotted for the projects connected with improvement and development of Peking. Part of these funds shall be spent for the underground railway construction which connects Peking airport with the center of the city and makes it possible to reduce the time of transfer between them to 30 minutes. «Tourist Business for Professionals» magazine.
