Russian railroads changed the method of payment for bed linen in the 1st class and 2nd class sleepers. Since August 1 the price of bed will be automatically included in the cost of ticket regardless of a passenger wish. Thus the latter will increase by 45 rubles in the 2nd class sleeper, in the 1st class sleeper – by 90 rubles, in the brand-name (‘firmenny») trains - by 67 and 112 rubles respectively. The passengers travelling in the daytime will hardly like the innovation. At the same time there are positive results - now the possibility of bed overpricing widely used by trainmen at present will be excluded. The trainmen will also lose the possibility of selling to a passenger bed linen already used by another passenger.
