Air taxi project is launched in Russia
In July and August several Russian cities declared starting of air taxi service. Dexter Company introducing this project made presentations in Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan and Samara. Furthermore, Federal Agency for Air Transport is intended to channel 350 mln rubles for aerodrome repair in Kirov - one of the purposes of reconstruction will become precisely air taxi launching. According to plan the aircrafts M-101T made by Nizhny Novgorod plant «Sokol» will carry out flights between Moscow, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, and in the long term - between other cities of Volga Region. Tentative ticket price from Nizhny Novgorod to Kazan will be 7500 rubles. Aircrafts with 6-10 people capacity can be also rented for own-use. At the same time, air taxi pricing will make possible rapid carriage only of businessmen and representatives of authority and usual passengers hardly can afford it. However, if air taxi project is developed further it will anyhow play its role in the development of small aviation: airports of many Russian cities will be reconstructed and, possibly, with the appearance of a sufficient number of aircrafts and proper infrastructure such flights will become affordable at least for middle class. Given competent management, air taxi can become basis for restoring of small aviation in future, practically destroyed in the nineties. Travel.Ru
